    Monday - 2/25 - 11th Annual Bridges to the World International Film Festival - A statewide initiative in recognition of the state’s global reach and connections. Films selected and prived by the respective embassies to represent their country’s spirit and art of film making. Entries this year include films from Lithuania, Israel, Mozambique and a Canadian film about Syrian musicians. The one showing on Monday is “The Train of Salt and Sugar”, the Mozambique entry.

    Tonight - Annapolis Maritime Museum - Winter Lecture Series continues with Submerged Aquatic Vegetation: Restoration Strategies for the Chesapeake Bay. Dr Stephen Ailstock will be discussing the many techniques used to propagate Bay grasses that were pioneered at the Environmental Center of Anne Arundel Community College.

    Saturdays in February - Historic Londontown Gardens - Winter Lecture Series: African American Experience. This Saturday will be “Historical Character Interpretation: Connecting the Dots”. Brenda Parker shows how to create a more complete story of African American people in the past using various available resources.

    Sat 2/16 - Marbling Day - Drop in between noon and 4pm and marble a silk scarf or paper. We did this during the last Chocolate Binge Festival and the scarfs come out really awesomely.

    Starting Tonight - LEGO Robotics - Learn how to combine LEGOs with gears, pulleys, motors, sensors and programmable parts to build and program robots! There are multiple groups depending on if your kids are in grades 1-4 or grades 5-8. It starts tonight and runs weekly, on Thursdays, for 8 weeks. Pongos also has a regular LEGO robotics club that meets at the same time that your kids are welcome to join if they want to do more with LEGO robotics after they finish this class.

    Sat 2/9 - Beginning Silversmithing Class - A class for beginners or a refresher for those wanting to get back into silversmithing. Students will make one bezel set stone pendant with a bail. Students will need to supply one small-to-medium sized cabochon for this project, or you can purchase one at the class.

    Now through March 16 - Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University - Hackerman Map Collection - From colonial impressions of the Chesapeake Bay to detailed city plans for guiding Baltimore’s rapid expansion, the exhibition features over 30 stunning and historically significant maps of Maryland and related rare prints and books.

    Sun 1/20 - MAARC Winterfest at the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum - The Mid Atlantic Antique Radio Club holds it’s annual WinterFest swap meet at the electronics museum every year. It’s an all-indoor swap meet with an auction open to all vintage electronics sellers.

    Sat 1/19 - “Where’s the Bear?” - A full moon strole, campfire and touch station. - Find out where animals go in the winter, see what animals might be out on a winter evening during a short walk, then warm up by the fire and learn more. Be sure to dress warm and warm beverages are provided.

    Sun 1/20 - A special event: Lunar Eclipse Campfire - Enjoy the total lunar eclipse and a nice toasty campfire with telescopes and astronomers on hand to inform you. This will be the last lunar eclipse until 2022. Dress warm for this one too.

And if you miss this session, any of your local library branches will be able to help you out with learning how to borrow e-books and other digital media from the library.

    Today through Sunday (1/3 through 1/6) - Super MAGfest (National Harbor) - MAGFest stands for Music and Gaming Festival, a four day event dedicated to the appreciation of video game music, gaming of all types and the gaming community. Events run 24 hours a day for the duration of the festival and include console games. Arcades, tabletop, LAN, live video game cover bands, vendors and more. Last year they drew over 22k attendees!

    Wed - 1/9 - Foundations of Photography Workshop - This 2 hour workshop covers how to control the aperture settings, exposure compensation, how to use ISO settings to take better photos, proper focus, shutter speed and other aspects of using a DSLR camera. You should bring a DSLR camera with fully charged battery, a memory card and the camera’s manual.
