    This weekend - 3/7-3/8 - Downs Park - Pasadena - Maple Syrup Demonstration - Watch the old time process and learn the history and techniques of making maple syrup.

    This weekend 3/7 - 3/8 - Londontown Gardens in Edgewater - Spring Hearth Cooking Workshop - Explore food and recipes of the past, learn historically accurate cooking techniques while cooking on an open fire. Recreate recipes from 17th, 18th and 19th century sources including herb roasted chicken with mustard sauce, peas pottage with fresh-made vegetable broth, farmer’s cheese, savory vegetable tart, hot buttered crab with toast points as well as salad with fresh greens and herb dressing.

    Up in Owings Mills.. Registration is open for Project STEAM Maryland’s Summer Camp 2020 for 1st through 5th graders. Camp activities, with certified teachers, include, but aren’t limited to, minecraft, traditional and digital art, computer science and game design, 3D printing, day trips, sculpture, reading comprehension, swimming, math, LEGO robotics, science, chess, sports, fashion and engineering.

    Sat 2/15 - College Park Aviation Museum - Join them for another Engineering 101 workshop where you’ll learn about navigation and geography and create your own paper plane gliders to test out on a course, celebrating Black History month by honoring Barrington Irving who was the youngest person to fly solo around the world in 2004 and the first black pilot to do so. He has since developed his own non-profit to help kids learn about aviation and careers in aviation.

    RPi/Linux - Command Line Basics - You can do a lot with the graphical interface on a Raspberry Pi but usually you end up having to dig a little deeper to get the most out of it. There are a lot of great tutorials out there, which show you the bare minimum, but I want to go over how things really work so it’s not just following a recipe when you have to get your hands dirty with the command line.

    Mon 12/16 - Beginner Weaving Workshop - Learn how to set up and use a loom, a multitude of basic weaving techniques, how to plan your first project, including experimenting with color and texture as well as how to clean up and finish your project.

    Tonight 12/12 - Glass Fusing Menorah Workshop - Design and create your own fused glass menorah. Use colorful glass to pattern your piece or use some pre-cut elements to get you started. The pieces will be fired in their kiln.

There will be free metered parking downtown using the promo code ParkDTA in the ParkMobile app, and free parking at the Calvert Street and Whitmore Garages.

    Sun 12/8 - Chocolate Binge Festival - first block of West Street, featuring everything chocolate, admission is just a $5 cash donation to the Annapolis Arts District which can be paid right at the event.

    Mon 12/9 - Make It: Block Printing - Learn how to carve your own block and print onto beautiful paper with artist extraordinaire Anita Hagan. You’ll be able to take your block home and continue printing with it whenever you like!

    Tues 12/10 - Monthly Sketch Night - This month is A Burlesque Sketch Night featuring London St Juniper. Anita Hagan shows up once again, but this time to host the event and offer advice or critiques as requested, but note that this is not a drawing class.

    Also be sure to check in on Art Farm to see what they’re hosting for their Winter Semester… so far I see print making for kids, beginner photography classes, art exporation, street art lettering, mixed media and bottle cap collages.

    Tomorrow through Jan 1 - Annmarie Sculpture Gardens in Solomons - Ornament Show & Sale - Featuring a great selection of handmade ornaments crafted by regional artists. If you want to double up on the fun and make the trip down south worth it, you might wait until the 29th when the Annmarie Garden In Lights starts. It’s really an underrated gem worth the drive.

The Baker Artist Portfolios were created to support artists and promote the Greater Baltimore creative community and cover all disciplines.
